E-mail Print PDF

The Journal of the Philippine Academy of Management (JPAoM) is currently seeking papers for this new Philippine journal to be launched in March 2011.

Editorial Scope and Objectives

One of the primary objectives of the Philippine Academy of Management (PAoM) is to strengthen the research discipline of its members.  To support this objective, the Board of Governors resolved to establish an online journal publication as a venue for scholarly output.

JPAoM publishes:

  • Empirical Papers
  • Methodological Papers
  • Theoretical and Conceptual Papers
  • Literature Reviews
  • Teaching Cases for class discussion

In addition to the above categories of articles, the JPAoM also welcomes Brief Research Notes as well as Book Reviews.

The JPAoM will publish in its website, annual issues that will contain between 5 – 10 articles.  It shall include at least one invited article per issue.

Editorial Process

Each paper is reviewed by the editor and, if judged suitable for this publication, is then sent to two referees for double blind peer review.  We encourage both reviewers and authors to respond quickly in the review process as we intend to meet publication deadlines.  More detailed information can be found in the  JPAoM Guidelines.

Submit a Paper

Submissions to JPAoM should be addressed to the editor, Dr. Andrea Santiago, at the appropriate section of the PAoM website.

Doctoral seminar on preparing scholarly papers held

Twelve participants attended the PAoM doctoral seminar on writing a scholarly paper held at the Asian Institute of Management last July 31.  Facilitated by Dr. Ben Teehankee (chair of professional development) and assisted by Dr. Ginny Santiago (chair for research and publications), the seminar covered strategies for organizing information supporting a paper to achieve both relevance and rigour.

Participants from De La Salle University's Doctor of Business Administration Program and Ateneo de Manila's PhD in Leadership Studies and PhD in Psychology learned more efficient methods for sourcing articles from the top journals as well as from relevant local journals,  preparing annotations of these articles with the aid of technology tools (Foxit Reader, GoogleDocs, EBSCO database, Wikipedia and Scholar Google), and identifying important research gaps (i.e., theoretical, substantive, empirical and contextual) which call for scholarly contributions from doctoral students.

Participants included the following:  From DLSU: Evelio G. Echavez, Rommel R. Serrano, Pedro P. Benedicto Jr., Enrique Antonio B. Reyes, Ricardo G. Cruz, Jr., and Jenny S. Eizaguirre.   From Ateneo: Sr. Marivic A. Galamay, Juanita R. Gueco, Jocelyn M. Nolasco, Raul P. Rodriguez, Noel M. Cortez, and Maria Victoria T. Cortez.

Dr. Santiago invited  the participants to submit articles for the forthcoming maiden issue of the Journal of the Philippine Academy of Management.  A follow-up writing workshop will be organized by PAoM a few months in the future to provide further support for the aspiring doctorates.

Ben Teehankee explains the importance of diligent appreciation of the scholarly literature, both foreign and local, for good doctoral papers.

Participants try their hand at using Foxit Reader to annotate PDF journal articles.
